Position Summary

A purchaser is responsible for approving and qualifying vendors and authorizing purchase orders.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Assess requirements of an establishment and develop specifications for equipment, materials and supplies to be purchased. Establishes delivery schedules, monitors progress and contacts clients and suppliers to resolve any problems.

Confidentiality is important in this position as the incumbent is privy to information regarding sales pricing and agreements with vendors.

Qualifications

  • Previous related experience an asset
  • Strong problem solving, judgment and decision making skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of departments, suppliers, senior management and sales staff
  • Willing to train the right candidate
